Each monthly newsletter from Vista contains macroeconomic thoughts from Principal Analyst Ross Silver, investment considerations, monthly highlights of each covered company and other broad based commentary.
In the August 2013 Macroeconomic & Investment Newsletter, Mr. Silver states, "The S&P 500 achieved new all-time highs in July. Those who remain heavily invested in bonds likely are a bit nervous after watching the yield on the 10-year Treasury-Note continue to increase and underlying bond values decrease. After speaking with a number of financial advisors over the past month, a considerable rotation from bonds to stocks seems to be occurring." Mr. Silver goes on to state, "There are a number of companies that can borrow whatever they want for the most part at 1.5% to 2% and these companies may pay a dividend of close to 3%. These companies can essentially arbitrage their own stock while inflating their EPS (buy back shares with money borrowed). This is an example of one of the mechanisms driving equities."
Mr. Silver notes in the August Newsletter that (NASDAQ: PSIX) is hovering near its 52-Week high of $47.22; their stock price has nearly tripled since we initiated coverage on January 15, 2013 at $17. In addition, a relatively recent initiation (NASDAQ: ECTY) is up over 50% since we initiated coverage in April and (NASDAQ: OHRP) is up 17% year to date and recently up-listed to the Nasdaq.
