New thermal transfer printer facilitates tiny barcode labels for jewelry and watches
Label specialists Ferdinand Eisele have succeeded in printing reliably readable barcodes on over 30 % smaller labels for jewelry and watches with the new 600dpi thermal transfer printer TSC-TTP 644M.
New thermal transfer printer facilitates tiny barcode labels for jewelry and watches(firmenpresse) - "We have been able to offer our customers barcode labels being very small already with an inscription space of 17.5 x 8 mm using the commercially available 300 dpi devices. Now", says Alex Schickel, General Manager of the company located near Pforzheim, "we even undermatch our own top mark by another 5 mm. Our smallest barcode label with loop is now just about 12 mm wide and 7 mm high."
A faultlessly readable barcode can be placed on the label thanks to the TSC device - e.g. the popular 2/5 interleaved type - as well as two additional text lines and/or a 5-digit price including two more text lines on the other inscription space.
This is made possible by the high resolution which has been doubled to 600 dpi compared to previous thermal transfer printers. In more specific terms, this means: where formerly one pixel had to be enough to print finest barcode lines, two are available now. This guarantees sure scanner readability and appropriate definition for the naked eye.
The advantage of the TSC TTP-644M is a benefit as well for those preferring more data rather than small size. The writing may be smaller still providing unchanged readability, so more lines and more digits per line can be placed on the inscription space of the label.
The TSC TTP 644M comes with the well-proven aluminium casing like all current TSC industrial printers. It can be set up for use quickly with its simple 6-key display and the material feed on the side. Despite its 600-dpi resolution it provides a remarkable printing speed of 102 mm (4 inches) per second. A roll change is only necessary after 5,000 labels as the technology supports label rolls with a high outside diameter.
The printer provides a serial, a parallel and a USB interface as well as internal Ethernet by default. It has a 32 MB SDRM memory, an 8 MB-FLASH memory and an SD memory card port. The customer obtains all this at an extremely affordable price including a 2-year warranty.
