asknet publishes business figures for the first half of 2013

Karlsruhe, August 15, 2013 - asknet AG has announced its business figures
for the first six months of 2013. The leading supplier of global e-commerce
solutions for software and digital media companies generated consolidated
sales revenues of 39.9 million euros in the first half of 2013, up 19
percent on the same period of the previous year. At 5.0 million euros,
asknet Group's gross profits increased by over 6 percent compared to the
first half of 2012. This breaks down into 3.7 million euros for the
eDistribution segment and 1.3 million euros for the ePortals segment.
Both business segments of asknet Group delivered a positive performance in
the reporting period. The eDistribution segment continued its growth, with
sales revenues and gross profits up by approx. 15 percent and approx. 7
percent, respectively, on the first half of 2012. While last year's trend
in the ePortals segment was negative, asknet's academic software portals
returned to growth in the first six months of 2013, reporting an impressive
29 percent increase in sales revenues. Gross profits rose by approx. 5
percent.
Due to the good business trend in the first six months of 2013, the Group
posted a positive half-year result. Both earnings before interest and taxes
(EBIT) and net profit after interest and taxes were up by 102 thousand
euros on the previous year to 15 thousand euros. The weaker yen shaved off
99 thousand euros of the result in the first half of the year. A future
currency risk is meanwhile hedged by currency forwards.
'We are very pleased with the positive business developments in the first
six months of the year. In light of the good conditions for the sector, we
are confident that we will be able to improve our operating results as
projected for the full year 2013,' said Michael Konrad, CEO of asknet AG.
