NORIS prevails the comparison test of Verkehrsbetriebe Zürich (VBZ)
In behalf of the local transportation company Verkehrsbetriebe Zürich NORIS equips 88 trams type VBZ-Cobra of the manufacturer Bombardier with speed sensors.
VBZ-Cobra(firmenpresse) - After completion of a field test in which the sensors’ robustness and measuring accuracy was tested for more than one year in the trams, NORIS could assert itself successfully in the face of another competitor. This project involves a modernization of the traction motor sensors and wheel sensors as a part of the regular maintenance intervals. The influence of extreme conditions, such as temperature differences, extreme vibration forces with peaks up to 100 g at the unsprung trailing wheel as well as the use of road salt is very high in this area and requires a special ruggedized solution. Thus, speed sensors type FAHZ5 are applied at the trailing wheel and the traction motor. They are especially developed for harsh environments and offer on the one hand equipped with a polyamide protective tubing sufficient protection against the local strong weather conditions and also the necessary flexibility.
