Naxos of America Launches Christophorus, Glossa, Idis, Tundra, Egrem and West Wind for Distribution
(firmenpresse) - FRANKLIN, TN -- (Marketwired) -- 09/04/13 -- In September, Naxos of America launches six labels for distribution. These labels range in age from 80 years to brand new and cover repertoire from early classical music to Cuban music of the 20th century.
Christophorus is the oldest German record label with a focus on "Sacred Music." It was founded in 1935 to bring religious content through records and books during the Nazi regime among the faithful. More than seven decades later, spiritual issues remain at the center of the label, with a particular interest for unknown works and historical interpretation.
IDIS was an idea born in 1996, mainly, if not exclusively, from a passion for music. IDIS' purpose is to retrieve the most significant performances from the greatest artists in classical music. The label offers the listener the best sound quality while maintaining the unique artistic expression -- peculiarities and moments of genius included -- without altering the original recording.
Glossa is a classical music label specializing in historically informed performance with a strong interest in design and editorial excellence. Based in San Lorenzo de El Escorial, Spain, Glossa is known as Spain's most international label and one of the world's finest in early music.
The recordings on the EGREM record label comprise the history of recorded music in Cuba. Founded in 1964 following the Cuban Revolution, EGREM has captured the entire musical culture of Cuba such as charanga, dance bands and the popular vocal style "son," made famous by the Buena Vista Social Club.
The International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE) announces the launch of its own artist-driven imprint for the ensemble's recordings, TUNDRA. Entering its second decade, ICE has transformed the contemporary music landscape, garnering widespread critical acclaim for fusing performances, presenting, and commissioning all under one organizational umbrella. The establishment of TUNDRA, is a natural outgrowth of this comprehensive vision.
West Wind is what jazz is all about: big names, dazzling arrangements, and fascinating chance meetings of historically important artists (in the Studio and live settings). Listeners will find in these recordings wonderful moments of jazz history they may not have heard for years while at the same time, introducing newly published items that have been overlooked and recordings that are simply rediscovered.
