Munich, Germany, September 10(th), 2013: SuppreMol GmbH, a privately held
biopharmaceutical company developing novel therapies for the treatment of
autoimmune diseases, today announced the appointment of Dr Michael Tansey as
Chief Development Officer (CDO) of the Company. At SuppreMol, Dr Tansey will
oversee both the non-clinical and clinical development of the Fc-gamma receptor
(FcgR) product family, in particular SM101, which is in Phase II clinical
development for Primary Immune Thrombocytopenia (ITP) and Systemic Lupus
Erythematosus (SLE).
Dr Tansey, who qualified in medicine in 1973, has more than 30 years of
successful international clinical development and management experience in the
pharmaceutical and biotech industry in Europe, the USA and Asia. He started his
career with Hoechst, followed by increasingly responsible roles in Glaxo and
Rhone-Poulenc Rohrer, expanding his career in large pharma as Chief Medical
Officer and Head of Medical Development at Pharmacia. Since 2003 he has
contributed his know-how and experience to several biotechnology companies,
including being CMO at NovaCardia and La Jolla Pharmaceutical Company prior to
joining SuppreMol. During his career Michael Tansey was involved in the
successful clinical development and regulatory approval of more than 15 small
molecule and biological products.
