Introducing Shadow Puppet, an Easy Way to Show-and-Tell With Mobile Photos

(firmenpresse) - SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 09/18/13 -- We take photos every day, showing them off or sending them to friends and family so they can share in the experiences. But when those captured moments are sent, a key element is missing: the story behind the photo. Available today, is a new mobile app for iOS 7 that lets people narrate over their photos to share the stories and context that would otherwise be lost.

"People show-and-tell on their phones every day, yet there's no simple way to record that experience," said Adrian Graham, co-founder of Shadow Puppet. "We wanted to make it easy to capture the experience of sitting next to someone while they're showing you their photos and telling the stories behind them."

Shadow Puppet is very easy to use. Simply the app from the App Store, then open it up to make a new "puppet." You'll be shown the camera roll on your phone, then pick the photos you want to use, press 'record' and talk through them to create a one-of-a-kind puppet. Once the puppet is ready, can share it with anyone via SMS, email, Facebook or Twitter.

Shadow Puppet includes an HTML5 web player that lets recipients view a puppet and flip through photos at their own pace, without having to download anything. Moreover, there is never any processing time to make a puppet and share it. Once the puppet is created and sent, it is immediately available. Recipients don't need to have Shadow Puppet to view puppets, either.

"At any given time, we have hundreds of photos on our phones," added Graham. "With Shadow Puppet, it's easy to use those photos to make something great and share it with the people you care about. What's more, early Shadow Puppet users have surprised us with their creativity -- we've seen everything from a child describing something she's made to a couple telling vacation stories to a teacher explaining the similarities between turtle shells and scales."

Shadow Puppet was founded by Adrian Graham and Carl Sjogreen, who met at Google in 2008, where they led the product launches for Picasa and Google Calendar, respectively. They joined forces to launch Nextstop.com, a social travel guide which was acquired by Facebook in 2010. Sjogreen and Graham left Facebook in 2012 to found Shadow Puppet.
