Worlds Receives USPTO Certificates of Correction Validating Patent Priority Date

(firmenpresse) - BOSTON, MA -- (Marketwired) -- 09/25/13 -- (OTCBB: WDDD) has received Certificates of Correction from the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO). These Certificates are relevant to Activision Blizzard, Inc., Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. and Activision Publishing, Inc.'s (Activision's) Motion for Summary Judgment, which disputes the priority dates of Worlds' patents. Worlds' counsel, Susman Godfrey L.L.P, has filed a Notice of with the Court, which cites the issued Certificates of Correction and requests an accelerated Markman hearing in light of the USPTO's actions. In March 2012, Worlds Activision in federal court for infringing patents that are based on Worlds' November 1995 provisional patent application. In June, Activision filed a Motion for Summary Judgment (MSJ) disputing the November 1995 priority date. Judge Denise Casper set the MSJ hearing for October 17, 2013, and continued the previously scheduled Markman hearing pending the outcome of the MSJ hearing.
On September 24, 2013, the USPTO issued Certificates of Correction amending Worlds' and patents to include comprehensive priority information, which specifically references Worlds' November 1995 provisional patent application.
