New Research Points the Way to Success Through Active Management of VDSL Lines

(firmenpresse) - REDWOOD CITY, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 09/25/13 -- , a leading solutions company for broadband service providers, today announced the availability of a white paper on Smart Vectoring, an ASSIA Expresse Solutions offering that helps service providers accelerate vectored VDSL deployments, drive high performance during the transition, reduce customer churn, and increase profitability. The white paper provides a thorough background on vectoring management and tips for streamlining implementation of vectoring in a multi-vendor networking environment, and presents key findings on managing VDSL to derive the highest achievable performance. The paper also describes how carriers can maximize network performance in an environment where vectored and non-vectored lines are deployed in the same binder.

Vectored VDSL has emerged as a key component of the service provider's access network technologies, enabling delivery of dedicated rates in excess of 100 Mbps over the existing copper plant. Unlike fiber-based and coaxial networks -- where the shared line speed is determined by dividing nominal data rates by the number of households served -- providers of vectored VDSL guarantee nominal data rates to all households. Vectoring further enhances VDSL by eliminating crosstalk that otherwise limits sustainable VDSL data rates.

The ASSIA report presents four key findings:

Vectoring reduces the wide variability in the deliverable data rates of VDSL, allowing service providers to offer higher data rates -- and more premium services -- to a greater percentage of their customer base.

By mitigating alien noise on VDSL networks, service providers reduce missed commercial opportunities relating to underprovisioned lines, and severe instability relating to overprovisioned lines.

Automatic optimization and interference management of all lines result in fewer trouble calls and dispatches, and streamlined customer care operations.

Service providers can easily integrate Smart Vectoring software with their existing Operations Support Systems (OSS) and management models.
