Downtown Delray Beach kicks off the Fall Season with its popular craft festival this weekend, October 5 - 6, 2013. Many of the crafters will be wearing pink in a show of solidarity and others will be selling works of art and crafts inspired by their personal battle against breast cancer. They hope to raise awareness and will be donating a portion of their proceeds to the research of this devastating disease. Admission is free and open to the public.
Among the artists hoping to make an impact are jewelry designers Paula Padilla and Patricia Gonzalez. Paula's mother is currently fighting this devastating disease and her battle is the inspiration behind Paula and Patricia's designs. Embellished with pink gems and stones as well as inspirational messages, these handmade one-of-kind themed pieces will be prominently displayed and fifteen percent of the sales will benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Additional information about their work can be found on their website, .
Craft enthusiasts can expect to see many of the artists that return each year as well as new crafters with their finest work. The festival will take place along NE and SE 4th Avenues, intersecting Atlantic Avenue in Downtown Delray Beach. A portion of the proceeds benefits the Delray Beach Downtown Development Authority.
American Craft Endeavors, producer of this show, and Howard Alan Events bring many art and craft festivals to Downtown Delray Beach each year including the city's signature Festival of the Arts which takes place in January and the Thanksgiving Weekend Art Festival in addition to many craft shows at various locations around town.
