(firmenpresse) - SASKATOON, SASKATCHEWAN -- (Marketwired) -- 10/03/13 -- The FSIN released their itinerary of events today as their delegation departed for London. While in London, the members of the delegation will participate in a number of activities over four days throughout the city.

"We want to promote awareness and common understanding of the importance and relevance of relations between First Nations and the Crown. We want to talk about those relations globally," said Perry Bellegarde, Chief of the FSIN, who will be leading the delegation.

Highlights of the trip include:

"The Royal Proclamation is important to us because it marks the first time that the Crown recognized our title to and jurisdiction over lands and territories as Indigenous peoples," added Chief Bellegarde. "People will be marking October 7th in different ways. We decided to go to London because that is where the original document rests, and from whence the original relationship emanated. We want to broaden the dialogue by including as many people as possible during our visit," concluded Chief Bellegarde.

The FSIN represents 74 First Nations in Saskatchewan. The Federation is committed to honouring the spirit and intent of Treaty, as well as the promotion, protection and implementation of the Treaty promises that were made more than a century ago.
