Press release, 8 October 2013

OP-Pohjola Group has entered into a partnership with the support association for
the New Children's Hospital. Along with this agreement, OP-Pohjola will
contribute one million euros towards the construction of the New Children's
Hospital. The amount of this contribution will be increased through various
actions together with personnel, customers and other stakeholder groups as well
as the support association until 2017.

- We are so happy about being able to make our contribution to such a unique
project. This is a major national project that supports OP-Pohjola's mission and
core values in a wonderful way. We have been involved in building Finnish
society and supporting wellbeing and security for over 100 years now, says
Carina Geber-Teir, Chief Communications Officer of OP-Pohjola.

Based on a decision taken by OP-Pohjola Central Cooperative's Supervisory Board,
OP-Pohjola will become a founding donor of the New Children's hospital.
- We want to show great respect to those who do their incomparably precious work
among children and young people on a daily basis.
- The New Children's Hospital will be a great testimony to the power of
cooperation.  We are challenging all and every to contribute to the project.
Everyone's contribution is important, says Geber-Teir.

OP-Pohjola has undertaken to be involved in the construction project as long as
it comes to an end.
- In addition to our financial support, we will activate and encourage our
customers, employees and other stakeholder groups to contribute towards the
construction of the New Children's Hospital.

Anne Berner, Chairman of the New Children's Hospital 2017 support association,
is very happy about the cooperation with OP-Pohjola.
- The old clinic for children no longer serves its purpose in terms of premises.
We need a new children's hospital now. To reach this goal, we will need to

cooperate and join forces with private and public sector players. OP-Pohjola
sets a great example for the entire corporate sector. Although times are tough,
we can still do our bit and be involved in building a future.

- Our ambition is to announce in 2017 that building the New Children's Hospital
has been made possible by millions of people through their support and
determination. The financial support provided by OP-Pohjola and the challenge
uttered by OP-Pohjola give a large number of people and organisations the
opportunity to hear more about the project and contribute to it.

The support association for the New Children's Hospital 2017 project has the aim
of raising 30 million euros. These donations will enable the construction in
Helsinki of a new national top children's hospital unit focusing on special
healthcare. The aim is that half of the 30-million euros will be raised based on
donations from corporations.

Planning work for the hospital is in full swing and the actual construction work
should begin at the turn of 2014-2015. The aim is to complete the new hospital
by the Finnish Independence Day in 2017 when we celebrate our 100th anniversary
as an independent nation.
