Developers get keys to their own success with Nokia's DVLUP rewards program
(Thomson Reuters ONE) -
Unique program offers Windows Phone developers unprecedented access to marketing
and promotional support
Espoo, Finland - Nokia announced today that DVLUP, its unique rewards program
for Windows Phone developers, is now available in more than 20 countries
globally. Designed to confront the industry-wide challenge of app
discoverability, DVLUP empowers developers to increase the visibility and
success of their applications.
"Nokia's DVLUP program puts developers in the driver's seat - providing them
with a clear path to get their app featured in app discovery and marketing
channels," said Chanse Arrington, Global Head of Developer Business Tools at
Nokia. "By leveraging elements of gamification, developers earn points as they
improve their app, empowering them to promote their app in marketing,
advertising and merchandizing channels like the Windows Phone Store. This
creates a more transparent and fair app ecosystem, where developers are in
control of their own success."
DVLUP, available as a pilot program in the United States and Canada since
November 2012, now introduces a more interactive, intuitive user experience with
feature consistency across mobile, tablet and desktop platforms to the global
marketplace.
Developers can create, book and manage their own application promotion and
marketing campaigns built through participation in DVLUP. This represents an
industry first, as most application stores leverage algorithms to control
promotional efforts.
DVLUP uses a gamification model to create a fun, inventive and competitive
environment for developers to build successful Windows Phone applications.
Developers can earn badges and experience points (known as "XP") by completing
quizzes and challenges related to application development. By creating high-
quality applications, developers can also earn additional points and unlock even
greater opportunities. For instance, developers can promote their applications
through the Windows Phone Store, App Social, in-app advertising, as well as by
using print, digital, social and out-of-home media opportunities.
Starting today, DVLUP is available in more than 20 countries including:
Australia, Canada, China, Egypt, Finland, France, Germany, India, Indonesia,
Italy, Kenya, Poland, United Kingdom, the United States and Vietnam. DVLUP is
free to join. To learn more, visit www.dvlup.com.
