The promotion comes as Collins and his research support staff launch a first of its kind research study on effective treatments for the common injuries and conditions experienced by musicians and performing artists. His work with professionals within the performing arts spans decades and includes the Houston Symphony and the Miró Quartet.

Board certified and fellowship trained in surgery of the hand, with certificate of added qualifications (CAQ) for surgery of the hand, Collins recently obtained his MBA from Rice University, Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Business. He also holds a faculty appointment at Weill Cornell Medical College and frequently speaks to students of university and professional performing arts programs about the injuries and conditions most seen in this group.

A published author, Collins has research findings published in international peer-reviewed orthopedic journals and surgical text books. His research on joint replacement techniques for the small joints of the fingers and wrist has refined treatment protocols and improved longterm outcomes.

Collins is also part of the Houston Methodist healthcare team providing care to collegiate and professional athletes throughout Texas.
