2013 Grammer European Spine Journal Award Goes to Japanese Research Group
Headed by Uchida and Nakajima
The world's best-endowed spine research award
Sponsored by Grammer AG and the European Spine Journal
Amberg, Germany / October 17, 2013 - The most important European congress
dealing with the human spine took place this year in Liverpool from October
2 to 4. More than 2,000 physicians, biologists, and biomechanics
specialists gathered at it to share the latest findings in their respective
fields. The European Spine Journal Award was also presented to a research
group led by K. Uchida and H. Nakajima at the University of Fukui in Japan.
Endowed with 20,000 euros, this award for basic research and applied
science comes with the largest purse of any accolade bestowed in the field
of spine research. It has been sponsored since 2000 by Grammer AG and the
European Spine Journal. The jury consists of editors and members of the
scientific advisory board of the European Spine Journal. This year's prize
went to the best of the 785 articles that appeared in the journal in the
previous year. It was presented by Prof. Dr. Hans-Joachim Wilke, one of the
world's leading spine researchers, and Dr. Katja Bühlmeyer of Grammer AG.
Grammer, a trendsetter in ergonomics, safety and comfort for cars and
commercial vehicles, has closely collaborated for decades with scientists,
