New paths to drastic emission reduction
TA-Luft Packing cord Style 1303 FEP(firmenpresse) - Pumps and valves in process engineering especially require servicing and are provided with optimum installation space for stem sealing systems on delivery. But what happens during longer periods of operation? Compact sealing systems do not have the radial dimensions required to
compensate for losses and delays. Servicing becomes increasingly time-consuming and maintenance
and operating costs start skyrocketing.
To solve this problem, intricately designed sealing sets with disk springs are used to ensure technical tightness even after longer use. Specific leakage rates for these seals are stipulated in the VDI guideline 2240. The required sealing function of 1 ∙ 10-4 mbar∙l/(sm) at temperatures < 250°C
and 1 ∙10-2 mbar∙l /(sm) at temperatures > 250°C must be maintained permanently.
The TA-Luft regulation for shut-off and regulating devices stipulates equipping with high-quality sealing bellows combined with downstream safety gland packing or the use of equivalent sealing systems. GARLOCK found the key to long-term emission reduction in the optimum conversion of
axial pre-tensioning force into radial surface pressure.
