BOSTON, 2013-10-29 14:00 CET (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) --
Payments and fraud professionals from top ecommerce companies gathered today in
Boston for a three-day conference to discuss the latest trends in payments
systems and fraud prevention.
The conference, organized by the MRC, a global organization that fully supports
and promotes operational excellence for fraud, payments and risk professionals,
is an industry leading event for global ecommerce brands.
'With a membership that represents 95 percent of the top 20 ecommerce
companies, 80 percent of the top 50 and 60 percent of the top 100, it is at our
core to bring these professionals together several times per year to discuss
the latest trends and challenges in payments and fraud,' said Tom Sullivan,
MRC's interim CEO.
'We believe strongly in the MRC mission and have seen first-hand the quality of
these events,' said Alex Algard, CEO of WhitePages PRO. 'We are glad to
co-sponsor the fall platinum meeting and value the intimate, merchant-led
approach with a robust and timely agenda of topics. When groups of merchants
and security professionals gather to discuss the latest in payments, fraud and
security, it makes the industry stronger.'
'The payments and fraud community is strengthened by open collaboration and
dialogue, which is why we are working with the MRC and sponsoring their fall
member meeting,' said Bruce Dragt, SVP, First Data Retail and Alliance
Services. 'Creating and sharing best practices with colleagues in the industry
creates a stronger ecommerce infrastructure and a better experience for
consumers. We support the mission of the MRC to create excellence in payments
and fraud prevention.'
The 200 plus merchants from 70 different companies attended sessions that
ranged from alternative payment methods, such as digital wallets, to
multi-channel fraud prevention and ID verification to in-house solutions.
About the MRC: The MRC is the foremost global organization that fully supports
and promotes operational excellence for fraud, payments, and risk professionals
within ecommerce. With a membership of nearly 400 of the world's most prominent
merchants and more than 50 category leading solution providers, MRC members
report 45 percent less revenue loss due to fraud, 50 percent less manual
reviews and 50 percent less fraud related chargebacks.
