Jim Baum is a former president and chief executive officer of data warehousing and analytics company Netezza Corporation. Baum led the 2010 sale of Netezza to IBM. Prior to Netezza, Baum was the president and chief executive officer of data-management software company Endeca Technologies, subsequently acquired by Oracle Corporation. Before Endeca, Baum served in various positions at Parametric Technology Corp., ultimately rising to executive vice president and general manager.
Baum holds a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), and a master of science degree in engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Today, Baum is a trustee of Worcester Polytechnic Institute. In 2011, he won WPI's first Innovator of the Year Award for his achievements discovering, developing, and commercializing breakthrough technologies.
