Jenoptik's Lasers&Material Processing division wins an order for diode lasers worth 2.7 million US dollars
Continuing strong demand for Jenoptik lasers used in medical technology / Jenoptik is in international demand as a supplier in the area of lasers and material processing
(PresseBox) - Jenoptik's Lasers & Material Processing division has been awarded a new order to supply lasers for medical technology. The diode lasers, with an order volume of 2.7 million US dollars, will be delivered during the course of this year to a client in the Mediterranean region. The foundation for the contract which has now been signed was laid at the LASER World of PHOTONICS Trade Fair held in Munich from May 23 to 26 this year.
The order is for diode laser stacks - multiple laser elements stacked on top of each other, a compact design producing a high output power - used for laser applications in the field of medical technology. The diode laser stacks are based on a new diode laser module with integrated qcw stack that was developed for industrial, military and medical applications and which offers significant handling advantages, primarily thanks to the extremely low weight. This gives rise to the expectation that Jenoptik will be able to markedly increase sales in a consolidated market segment in future.
Jenoptik is one of the few providers worldwide able to mass produce the entire technology chain for laser beam sources - from the semiconductor material to the diode laser, through to the solid state lasers - in high unit quantities and to the high standard of quality and process reliability required for applications in the medical field.
As an integrated optoelectronics group, Jenoptik operates in five divisions: Lasers & Material Processing, Optical Systems, Industrial Metrology, Traffic Solutions and Defense & Civil Systems. Its customers around the world primarily include companies in the semiconductor and semiconductor equipment industries, the automotive and automotive supplier industries, the medical technology, security and defense technology industries as well as the aviation industry.
The Group was created out of the former Kombinat VEB Carl Zeiss Jena in 1991, as a result of the German reunification. The Jenoptik Group headquarters are in Jena (Thuringia). In addition to several major sites in Germany Jenoptik is represented in nearly 70 countries. JENOPTIK AG is listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange and included in the TecDax index.
In the Lasers & Material Processing division Jenoptik is one of the leading providers and has control of the entire value-added chain of laser material processing - from component through to complete system. In the area of laser, Jenoptik has specialized in high-quality semiconductor materials and reliable diode lasers as well as innovative solid-state lasers, for example thin-disk and fiber lasers. In the area of high-power diode lasers Jenoptik is acknowledged worldwide as a leader in quality. In the area of laser processing systems Jenoptik develops systems that are integrated into production facilities for its customers as part of their process optimization and automation. These systems enable the customers to work with plastics, metals, glass, ceramics, semiconductor materials and solar cells, both in thin-film as well as wafer technology, with maximum efficiency, precision and safety.
