Two Apprehensions and 40th Removal of Individuals "Wanted by the CBSA"

(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 11/01/13 -- The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) today announced two apprehensions and the 40th removal of persons on the "Wanted by the CBSA" .

On October 1, 2013, the Toronto Police Service arrested Samora Moises Edwards on outstanding criminal matters. Edwards is inadmissible to Canada for serious criminality for being convicted of trafficking in a controlled substance. In addition, Edwards has been convicted of assault with intent to resist arrest and obstructing a peace officer.

On October 23, 2013, Josef Kanka was arrested by the Vancouver Police Department for numerous criminal matters. Kanka is inadmissible to Canada for serious criminality for being convicted of possession of stolen property, attempted extortion, robbery and causing bodily harm with intent (firearm). In addition, this individual has been convicted of robbery with a firearm, pointing a firearm, discharge of a firearm with intent, assault with a weapon and flight while pursued by a peace officer.

On October 9, 2013 the CBSA successfully removed Bartolo Camargo Galaviz from Canada after he presented himself to the CBSA. Camargo Galaviz is inadmissible to Canada for serious criminality having been convicted of an offence outside of Canada that, if committed in Canada, would constitute a Canadian offence.

To date, as a result of the "Wanted by the CBSA" program, Canadians have assisted in locating 48 individuals in Canada, of which 40 have been removed. Additionally, nine other individuals were located abroad.

Members of the public are reminded that they should not take action to apprehend the individuals listed on the CBSA Web site. Any information on the whereabouts of these wanted individuals should be reported to the CBSA Border Watch Toll-free Line at 1-888-502-9060.
