The Drive to Stop Diabetes(SM) Is a Sponsorship Collaboration of the American Diabetes Association and Lilly Diabetes Aimed at Raising Awareness of Diabetes in Communities Across the Country

Ryan Reed, NASCAR Nationwide Series driver, ambassador and spokesperson for Drive to Stop Diabetes, a diabetes awareness initiative with the American Diabetes Association and Lilly Diabetes. Lelea Fonua, American Diabetes Association Youth Ambassador of the Phoenix, AZ area.

To mark American Diabetes Month®, Reed will promote Drive to Stop Diabetes at the Phoenix International Raceway. Fonua, 12, will join Reed for a question and answer session.

Reed, 20, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age 17 and told he'd never race again. He is now a driver for Roush Fenway Racing in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. He will be racing in the Nationwide Series race on Saturday, Nov. 9.

Reed's No. 16 American Diabetes Association Drive to Stop Diabetes presented by Lilly Diabetes Ford Mustang will be wrapped with photos of people with diabetes. The photos are from the American Diabetes Association's A Day in the Life of Diabetes Facebook mosaic showcasing the extraordinary effort it takes to live a day with diabetes.
