The next technological revolution has arrived. Today, individuals not only use computers to calculate and communicate, but to fabricate -- to engineer and assemble computer-designed creations and to make tools needed to solve real problems. Gershenfeld, Lassiter and Morrison will explore these themes and more.

Renowned physicist and personal fab pioneer, Gershenfeld is redefining the boundaries between the digital and analog worlds. His famous is not only immensely popular among students at MIT, but the concept is potentially life-altering in the developing world. A Fab Lab with just $20,000 worth of laser cutters, milling machines and soldering irons can transform help a community harness their creativity to build tools, replacement parts and essential products unavailable in the local market.

One of the architects of the MIT global Fab Lab program and Director of the Fab Foundation, Lassiter is a firm believer in the idea of personal fabrication and the empowerment that comes from making things. As Director of the Fab Foundation, Lassiter engaged in the deployment and growth of Fab Labs around the world, enabling grassroots technology development by, for and of the community.

President and CEO of TIES, Morrison is the country's foremost innovator bringing STEM School design, STEM curriculum, and STEM instructional support to schools, districts, states and the federal government. In addition to TIES, Morrison has served as the Senior Consultant for College Ready STEM Education as well as Post-secondary Success for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and currently serves as an advisor with the White House and Department of Education.

"Our mission at CFS is to offer a meaningful academic environment in which students are empowered to question and to explore within a collaborative working space," said Peter Sommer, head of school, Cambridge Friends School. "Technology will continue to play an increasingly important role in 21st century education, and we're honored to have Neil Gershenfeld, Sherry Lassiter and Jan Morrison join us for what promises to be a thought-provoking and inspiring evening."
