MANN+HUMMEL invests in technical center at Ludwigsburg
(PresseBox) - The development of new products is only the first step - companies only benefit if series production is implemented quickly and at a high level of quality. In order to speed up the transition from development to series production, MANN+HUMMEL has created a technical center for the injection molding and welding of plastic parts in Ludwigsburg.
In the chemical and plastics-processing industry, the technical center represents the interface between development and series production. The core facilities at the MANN+HUMMEL technical center include two state-of-the-art, fully electric injection molding machines and a hot gas welding machine, as well as extensive peripherals. For the first time, the company now has machines of this kind at its disposal, which are not permanently integrated in running production.
Greater independence from suppliers
The technical center thus enables the filtration specialist to produce sample parts of new, technically sophisticated components in-house, with care, precision and in a time-saving manner. Moreover, new production processes and methods can be tested and optimized at the technical center before they are introduced into series production at Ludwigsburg or other locations around the world. The technical center will also be used for the training of non-production employees. However, development and quality engineers will benefit most from the facilities offered by the technical center.
Cornerstone for enhancing our competitiveness
"With the technical center, we have established an important prerequisite for meeting the increasing demands in terms of time to-market, production tolerances and process control in the injection molding and welding of plastics," says Dr. Holger Findeisen, Director Injection Molding & Welding Lead Team at MANN+HUMMEL. "With the technical center, we are furthering our technological expertise at the Ludwigsburg location." In April, MANN+HUMMEL announced plans to convert the Ludwigsburg headquarters into a modern technology center and invest some 30 million euros in the town. The technical center is seen as an important step in this undertaking.
