ROK Stars PLC, the consumer goods and environmental technologies
development company founded by John Paul DeJoria and UK entrepreneur
Jonathan Kendrick, has announced it has donated two PURE ROK
water-purification units to the Zuellig Family Foundation (ZFF) to deploy
in the Eastern Samar region of the country to help provide clean drinking
water at the point of need to those coping with the aftermath of Typhoon
Haiyan.
Designed to help tackle the global drinking water crisis, PURE ROK units
utilize appropriate low-cost, low-maintenance technologies to convert
polluted water into clean drinking water. PURE ROK water-purifiers contain
no moving parts, require no external power source and use nothing except
the sun itself to convert foul water into clean, pure drinking water
through an innovative and highly effective evaporation, condensation and
filtration process.
ROK Stars Chairman, Jonathan Kendrick said: 'The scale of the catastrophe
in the Philippines has been enormous and heart-breaking. The devastation
caused by Typhoon Haiyan will take many more months to put right and, all
the while, the need for readily available drinking water exists as a
fundamental and critical need. We at ROK want to contribute to the relief
effort through providing the means for some of those people affected to
convert polluted water into safe, clean, drinking water through our PURE
ROK purifiers.'
The Zuellig Family Foundation operates throughout the Philippines and has
been partnering with local communities to improve health conditions in
rural areas for many years. Because of the relationships ZFF has fostered
with these communities, they are in a unique position to identify where the
PURE ROK units are best positioned, thus making them an ideal partner in
this aid mission.
'The units have already arrived in the Philippines and are currently being
deployed in Eastern Samar. I will visit the region next week to see for
myself how they are helping the situation.' Added Kendrick.
Kendrick and DeJoria have been business partners in a variety of commercial
enterprises for 10 years to date and both share a passion for the
environment and philanthropy in general.
