- Group acquires large section of post-press capacities of meiller direct,
Schwandorf
Freudenstadt, 12 October 2010. Effective from 1 October 2010, schlott
gruppe AG has acquired a significant part of post-press assets belonging to
meiller direct GmbH, based in Schwandorf. The machinery taken over by the
Group includes two large adhesive binding units, two saddle stitching
machines as well as a system for individual shrink wrapping.
The post-press machines are to be installed at schlott gruppe's facilities
in France (hollmann S.A.), the Czech Republic (reus s.r.o.) and Germany
(d.v.n. druckverarbeitung nürnberg GmbH, Nuremberg).
Relocation activities are already underway. The two large-scale adhesive
binding machines are to be ready for operation in time for the coming
catalogue season at the end of November. In turn, older, less efficient
machinery is to be decommissioned.
For Bernd Rose, Chairman of the Management Board of schlott gruppe AG, this
step represents a significant improvement in the Group's competitive
position: 'In contrast to the situation in web-fed printing, overall market
capacity within the area of post-press operations is much more limited,
particularly at peak periods. In taking over a sizeable section of capacity
at meiller direct, we are modernising our existing machinery and, what is
more, further enhancing our end-to-end service portfolio within the area of
printing and post-press. This offers significant added value for our
customers.'
