Berlin, November 29, 2010. DEAG Deutsche Entertainment AG (ISIN
DE000A0Z23G6) which is, amongst other things, the leading Classical Music
promoter in Europe, sets up an open-air opera festival on the peninsula of
Hermannswerder near Potsdam together with renowned partners. 'See
Festspiele Potsdam' will take place on the romantic peninsula of
Hermannswerder near Potsdam during the summer from 2011 onwards. For the
premiere in July 2011 the acclaimed actress and director Katharina Thalbach
will stage a new interpretation of The Magic Flute by Wolfgang Amadeus
Mozart on the floating lakeside stage. Already in 2011 the Lake Festival
Potsdam will include 12 performances which are likely to attract ten
thousands of visitors. If the festival proves to be successful, it will be
staged every summer over a period of several weeks.
DEAG rounds off its Classical Music offering by adding an ambitious, crowd
pulling facet providng a high economic potential. Open-air opera festivals
have enjoyed increasing popularity over the last years. The best example is
the Bregenz Festival. The lakeside stage on Lake Con-stance attracts more
than 200,000 visitors every year.
In the operating company of the Lake Festival Potsdam, which is to be set
up, DEAG will have a stake of 35% - through its subsidiary DEAG Classics.
Another 30% will be held by the initiator and founding director of the
project, Dr. Christoph Dammann. He has many years of experience as a
director of known national and international festivals and opera houses,
including the Por-tuguese National Opera, the Festival ao Largo, the
Cologne Opera House etc. The operational implementation of the Lake
Festival will be taken over by DEAG Classics. Further shares are held by
Concertbüro Zahlmann, one of the leading music promoters in Berlin and in
the new German states as well as the company MM Promotion of the successful
manager Michael Mronz.
Prof. Peter L.H. Schwenkow, CEO of DEAG: 'With the Lake Festival Potsdam we
open another Classical chapter in the success story of DEAG Classics and
want to enrich the Berlin Branden-burg region by an annual open-air event
which is to act as a nationwide crowd puller. I am ab-solutely confident
that we will have sustainable success given the strong partners we have on
board. Bregenz shows us every year the dimensions these festivals can take
over the years. With Katharina Thalbach and The Magic Flute we have a dream
constellation for the premiere year.'
