AUTHOR HOPING TO FUND NYC-THEMED PICTURE BOOK VIA KICKSTARTER
(firmenpresse) - Brisbane, Australia –– A new Kickstarter campaign is seeking funding to publish a children’s picture book set on Park Avenue in New York City.
“The Park Avenue Princess” features Isabelle, a Manhattan-savvy youngster who wakes to the view of Central Park every morning. Without a care in the world, she galavants around New York City, having fun every step of the way. From lunch with her daddy at the Wall Street Cafe to hot chocolate with her best friend in the restaurant of Bergdorf Goodman, Isabelle experiences the grandeur of Manhattan every day.
Geared toward delighting children and adults alike, the book includes exciting plotlines and a snappy rhyming format along with Millos’ vibrant illustrations.
“The Park Avenue Princess” was written by Amy Weber and will be illustrated by Arnel Millos pending full funding of the project.
The project is both Weber’s first book as well as her first Kickstarter campaign. The funds raised will go toward payment of illustrations, ISBN packages, professional editing, cover design and copying and shipping proofs. Remaining funds will go towards marketing and advertising.
“I started this campaign as a way to crowdfund my project in order to get it into the hands of children,” Weber said. “I offer unique rewards in exchange for pledges.”
Multiple funding packages with corresponding donation perks are available through the Kickstarter campaign. Perks range from social media shout-outs for pledges under $10 all the way up to the VIP package: For a pledge of $2,000, donors will get 10 copies of "The Park Avenue Princess," five tote shopping/library bags, a dedication in the front of the book and an illustrated picture of Isabelle and their own children hanging out in NYC.
Weber, a believer in self-publishing, believes success in creating one’s own book hinges on the quality of the piece. Her goal with the Kickstarter campaign is to raise enough money to produce a professional-level children’s book without having to rely on a large publisher to do the work for her.
Though she resides in Australia, Weber is a world traveler with a passion for the Big Apple. She wrote “The Park Avenue Princess by drawing from her love of New York City, her experiences with her daughter Frankie and her obsession with all kinds of literature.
The project will only be funded if at least $3,000 is pledged by Tuesday, March 25.
