Easy and time-saving field device configuration and simplified updating of the field device firmware with Softing's FG-110 FF
(firmenpresse) - Softing's Modbus Gateway and Linking Device FG-110 FF for the integration of FOUNDATION fieldbus segments in existing plants and in Modbus control systems has been enhanced with two new features "Configuration Upload" and "Firmware Download". The new features will significantly simplify the configuration effort needed to expand an H1 system and enable system integrators and control engineers to update the field device firmware from a central location.
The new Configuration Upload "reads" the current network topology information from the field devices using the FG-110 FF Gateway. This information serves as the starting point for a configuration project and thereby simplifies in particular the network configuration effort in the event of a plant expansion with pre-configured devices.
Field device firmware can be updated centrally from the control room with the Firmware Download feature, provided the corresponding field devices support this functionality. This convenient feature replaces the time-consuming transition to the individual field devices as well as the often arduous task of loading of new firmware versions in the field.
The enhanced functionalities are implemented by using the latest version of the stand-alone configuration software FF-CONF, which is included with the FG-110 FF, and can be downloaded free of charge from the Softing website.
