Farmers had until March 28th to respond to a government consultation that aimed to help agriculture to secure its share of water supplies. Water abstraction and irrigation rules face their most significant overhaul of the last 50 years under plans within the DEFRA and Environment Agency consultation. The consultation provides an opportunity for farmers to influence how much water is available in the future and how farmers access it.
