Booking volumes rise 19.3% to Euro 95.62 million in fourth quarter of 2010
Nuremberg, 10 January 2011* - hotel.de AG ended the 2010 financial year on
a positive note, with a 19.3% increase in booking volumes to Euro 95.62
million in the fourth quarter (Q4 2009: Euro 80.17 million). International
booking volumes grew by 18.0% from Euro 33.76 million to Euro 39.84
million, thus accounting for around 41.6% of total booking volumes. As
already in previous quarters, booking volumes in France (measured in terms
of hotel location) showed especially marked growth of 27.5%. The domestic
business improved by 20.2% from Euro 46.41 million to Euro 55.78 million.
For 2010 as a whole, hotel.de AG generated booking volumes totalling Euro
392.08 million, thus not only exceeding the previous year's figure by
12.4%, but also beating the previous record figure reported in 2008. 'This
growth in booking volumes has been driven by our intense investment in
acquiring new customers and internationalising our business model. Not only
that, demand for inexpensive online reservation systems is on the increase.
As one of the leading providers in the market, we are benefiting from this
trend', commented Dr. Heinz Raufer, CEO of hotel.de AG.
Net commissionable checkout volumes, equivalent to the overnight
accommodation eligible for commission actually taken up in the period under
report, amounted to Euro 81.37 million in the fourth quarter of 2010 (Q4
2009: Euro 75.40 million). Net commissionable checkout volumes for the
twelve-month period from January to December thus amounted to Euro 319.83
million (previous year: Euro 305.53 million).
Number of bookings exceeds two-million mark for first time
At 2,013,818, the number of bookings made also exceeded the two-million
mark for the first time in 2010 as a whole (previous year: 1,821,253). The
fourth quarter accounted for 498,357 bookings, equivalent to a year-on-year
improvement of 14.3% (Q4 2009: 436,012). Average reservation volumes per
booking have also risen further, a development mainly due to the
year-on-year increase in the average length of stay per booking.
