NY Auction House Hosts Lectures on Historic Amusement Parks

Join them at 6pm as Wes and Barbara Gottlock present an illustrated talk about the Lost Amusement Parks of the Hudson Valley.
Around the turn of the twentieth century, a series of large and bustling amusement parks dotted the banks of the Hudson Valley. Steamships and trolleys brought throngs of local and New York City visitors for entertainment and to find relief from the doldrums of hot urban summers. For hundreds of years throughout the world, amusement parks have appealed to "the kid in all of us". The authors highlight some of the lesser-known amusements parks in the Hudson Valley that entertained millions into the 20th century.
Relive the times of wooden roller coasters, magical carousels, vaudeville acts, and dance halls at venues such as Electric Park at Kinderhook Lake and Woodcliff Pleasure Park in Poughkeepsie, among others.
This lecture is free and open to the public but due to limited seating please RSVP by April 15.
