(Grambach, 15.02.2011) ARGENT Energy, a company based in Motherwell,
Scotland, has commissioned the Styrian specialist for particularly
difficult cases to expand the existing biodiesel plant, so that it will
also be able in future to process raw materials from the fat industry into
high-quality biodiesel which have had to be incinerated up to now because
no better alternatives have been available. The value of this order for BDI
is EUR 3.1 million. BDI is opting in this project for an innovative new fat
processing system and, above all, for a specially developed pressure
esterification process of the kind that was already introduced very
successfully recently at a major plant in the Port of Amsterdam.
The plant in Scotland is an EU demonstration plant built by BDI in 2005
that will be able to process very difficult waste materials from meat
production or the catering industry as well once it has been expanded as
planned with this project. These materials will as a result be removed from
the animal feed market in a controlled way, while they will at the same
time be used to generate high local added value. For BDI customers, it goes
without saying that the biodiesel obtained from such sustainable renewable
raw materials also meets the strict requirements of the EU biodiesel
standard EN 14214 as well as all the quality and environmental requirements
on what are known as second-generation biofuels. The project is to be
completed and the plant handed over to the customer in less than 10 months.
