'Strategy Shift toward Renewable Energy Was the Right Move'
Haslemere, United Kingdom - March 18, 2011 - Dr. Rolf Haferkamp, CEO of
United Energy Group plc, feels the company's 2009 decision to shift its
strategy toward the area of renewable energy is vindicated by the current
energy policy debates.
'Undertaking this shift in strategy was the right move to make. The
disaster in Japan has shown us that it is mandatory to step up the use of
renewable energy to cover global energy needs. This will not only help
solar energy to pick up steam again but will also drive forward-looking
technologies like those used in the hydropower plants or
mechanical-biological processing plants we plan to built in Eastern Europe
and Vietnam.'
For instance, Germany's Minister for the Environment, Norbert Röttgen,
intends to speed up the introduction of new alternative energy sources in
Germany, while EU Energy Commissioner Günther Oettinger is calling for a
joint global energy policy that integrates renewable energy and
pan-European networks that would move available power contingents wherever
they are needed.
'Japan is changing the energy policy of the entire globe. We expect the
demand for 'clean' power to perk up in this context, and this will in turn
boost our ongoing and planned projects, among others,' said Haferkamp.
