Around 11% of accidents involving forklift trucks occur when another worker is run over by the machine. That happens when the driver is not paying attention, or the other worker is not looking where they’re going.
Crushed between two vehicles
You need to be very careful when walking around a warehouse or factory that has more than one forklift truck. Although it might be hard to believe, a further 11% of accidents occur when someone stands in the wrong place and becomes crushed between two vehicles.
Crushed between a vehicle and another surface
If there’s not much space to manoeuvre in your working environment, you need to be extra careful when walking near to a forklift truck. That’s because around 25% of all accidents happen when a person becomes crushed between the vehicle and another surface.
Crushed by a vehicle tipping over
In most instances, the driver is solely to blame for a forklift truck tipping over. It might happen because they’re lifting a load that’s too heavy or maybe because they’re on an uneven surface. Either way, a staggering 42% of all workplace accidents involving a forklift truck happen in this manner.
