Freiburg, April 29, 2011. S.A.G. Solarstrom AG (German security
identification number: 702 100, ISIN: DE0007021008), Freiburg, today
completed the first construction section of the 48 MWp photovoltaic project
in the region of Venice, Northern Italy. 12 MWp was connected to the public
power grid via the ultra-modern transformer substation built specifically
for this project. S.A.G. Solarstrom AG thus secured the current valid
feed-in tariff at EUR0.297 per kWh for this 12 MWp. Construction of the
large-scale project was accelerated over the past few weeks as the Italian
government had announced changes in the feed-in tariff as of June 1, 2011.
'We have reached an important milestone in this project with the completion
of the entire required infrastructure and the connection to grid of the
first 12 MWp', says Dr. Karl Kuhlmann, CEO of S.A.G. Solarstrom AG.
'Connection to grid in Italy is still a major challenge for several
photovoltaic projects. It is therefore all the more gratifying that we have
been able, under these by no means easy market conditions, to implement the
connection even earlier than originally planned.'
The photovoltaic system will be constructed on an area of 150 ha and should
be completed by the end of August, according to the current planning
status. With 48 MWp, the system will generate 64,000 MWh of electricity per
year and can thus supply 14,000 four-person households. To enable fast and
more secure network connection of the system, S.A.G. Solarstrom AG has
built a separate transformer substation in record time, which allows the
system to be connected directly and the electricity to be fed into the
high-voltage network.
The extendable and load management-capable substation is one of the most
modern in Italy. It is planned to sell it to the Italian Terna S.P.A., who
has already performed the technical acceptance and commissioning of the
substation.
