New Approach to Health Fair 11's Longtime Offering of Flu Shot Clinics Makes It Easier Than Ever for People to Get Vaccinated; All Types of Groups, Associations, and Clubs Can Host On-Site Clinics

(firmenpresse) - MINNEAPOLIS, MN -- (Marketwired) -- 10/06/14 -- No one wants to get sick. Yet every winter, the flu bug makes the rounds and causes thousands of people to feel miserable. For some, especially the young and the elderly, the flu can turn deadly.

Medical experts agree: The best way to avoid the flu is by getting a .

For nearly two decades, and the (MVNA) have encouraged people to get vaccinated at one of Health Fair 11's Flu Fighter clinics at local grocery stores. During that time, the nonprofit organizations have provided more than 870,000 flu vaccinations.

Now, Health Fair 11 and MVNA have a new way to protect people and their loved ones: .

Flu Fighter To-Go clinics turn the table on a typical flu shot clinic. Instead of asking the public to come to a clinic site, Health Fair 11 will bring a Flu Fighter clinic to public gatherings.

Flu Fighter To-Go clinics can visit groups such as book clubs, parent-teacher associations, church and breakfast groups, neighborhood association meetings, community festivals and celebrations, Rotary and other philanthropic clubs, small businesses -- and much more.

Flu Fighter To-Go clinics are available October through December. Details about scheduling a clinic are at , , and

A minimum of 20 people are needed to schedule a Flu Fighter To-Go clinic. One MVNA Registered Nurse (RN) can vaccinate 25 people in an hour. RNs are assigned based on the number of anticipated vaccinations.

MVNA nurses can vaccinate people ages six months and older.

MVNA has access to several forms of flu vaccines, including nasal spray, trivalent, quadravalent, and high-dose. MVNA administrators will determine which vaccine is appropriate for each host group's Flu Fighter To-Go clinic.

People being vaccinated will be required to sign a consent form and show proof of insurance. A parent or legal guardian will be required to sign consent forms for minors.

MVNA accepts 17 different insurance plans. MVNA administrators can determine if vaccine is available for people without insurance coverage.

Scheduling of Flu Fighter To-Go clinics will be done at the discretion of MVNA administrators. MVNA will make every effort to accommodate each requesting group. MVNA's scheduling page is .

The Flu Fighter To-Go campaign is created and sponsored by Health Fair 11, a nonprofit organization that operates with support from Hennepin County Medical Center, UCare, and KARE 11 TV. Clinics are coordinated and staffed by MVNA.

MVNA is a nonprofit, home and community health care provider. It has served the community since 1902 and provides care to thousands annually through these service lines: Adult Health, Community Health, Family Health and Hospice. Proceeds from MVNA partnerships support in-home nursing visits. Flu Fighter To-Go clinics help offset the cost of care for those with limited financial means so that MVNA can make a greater impact in the community.
