(firmenpresse) - TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 10/23/14 -- Editor's Note: A photo for this release will be available on the Canadian Press picture wire via Marketwired.

A one million dollar gift to CAMH, the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, will assist Canada's leading hospital for mental health in developing new educational programs to create psychologically healthier workplaces.

Toronto philanthropist Andrew Faas presented a cheque to CAMH today to assist in funding the hospital's Well(at)Work initiatives.

"I see this as giving back but also an investment to better the lives of employees and managers to build better working environments," says philanthropist Andrew Faas. Faas is also author of the forthcoming book "The Bully's Trap" which explores the costs of workplace bullying and solutions to prevent it.

Well(at)Work will help a team of educational designers, clinical experts, and workplace trainers develop enhanced educational programs for Canadian workers, corporations and organizations seeking evidence-based information and support to enhance mental health in the workplace.

"We aspire to develop, with the Faas Foundation's generous support, a comprehensive workplace-based program to provide employers and employees the tools and training to identify risks for mental illness in the workplace, strategies for prevention and support, and to ultimately transform the workplace culture to be more positive, healthy and productive", says CAMH Vice-President of Education, Ivan Silver.

The Well(at)Work investment is part of CAMH Foundation's $200 million Breakthrough Campaign, the world's largest fundraising campaign for a mental health hospital. The campaign is propelling CAMH, Canada's leading hospital for mental health, to help more people recover faster, inspire hope through discovery and stop mental illness from destroying lives.
