(firmenpresse) - KINGSTON, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 07/14/11 -- Brigadier-General (BGen) Eric Tremblay today assumed command of Royal Military College of Canada (RMCC), from Commodore (Cmdre) William Truelove during a change of command ceremony on the grounds of the historic institution. The ceremony was presided over by Major-General (MGen) Pierre Forgues, Commander of the Canadian Defence Academy.

"Today we salute the outgoing Commandant, Cmdre Bill Truelove for his remarkable accomplishments over the past two years, and welcome the new Commandant," said MGen Forgues. "I know BGen Eric Tremblay will continue to shape the academic environment of RMCC to ensure the highest standard is maintained in graduating the leaders we need for tomorrow."

"I feel honoured and privileged to be amongst the officers selected to train Canada's future leaders," said BGen Tremblay. "I am looking forward to leading and commanding the RMCC - the Canadian Defence University. I extend my appreciation to Cmdre Bill Truelove and his wife for their leadership and cooperation during this transition. I know I can count on the great civilian and military team here at RMCC."

BGen Tremblay comes to RMCC after serving for nearly three years as the Deputy Commanding General (Sustainment) and Chief of Staff at I Corps, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington. In 2009, he deployed to Kabul, Afghanistan as the spokesperson for the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF). BGen Tremblay a graduate of Royal Military College Saint-Jean, Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec, is an artillery officer who has commanded troops at the battery, regimental and brigade levels, and was the Commanding Officer of 5 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group in Valcartier, Quebec.
