Santa Rosa Courtyard Gears Up for the Santa Rosa Marathon
(firmenpresse) - SANTA ROSA, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 07/15/11 -- World-class runners will be making their way to Santa Rosa for the 2011 Santa Rosa Marathon and all its festivities and as a preferred partner of this "True Grit" running experience the Courtyard is gearing up for the event as the headquarter hotel and host of the Santa Rosa Marathon's Health and Fitness Expo.
While race day is set for Sunday, August 28, the Health Expo opens at 1 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 26 and will feature a variety of vendors and running related organizations. The two-day health expo opens again at 10 a.m. to kick-off Saturday's events which also includes the opportunity for leisurely dining at the nearby Mary's Pizza. As one of the premier and conveniently located just a few short walking minutes from the start and finish line, race participants will also be picking up their packets, bib numbers and chip timing at the Courtyard.
A qualifying race for the famed Boston Marathon, Sunday's marathon and half marathon start at 7 a.m. The 13.1 mile race loop passes by the Courtyard, which is offering a special $149* rate (limited availability) for race enthusiasts. Marathon participants will make the loop twice.
Nationally recognized local veteran runners Arthur Webb and Dan Aldridge will be available throughout the two-days of pre-race festivities, visiting and chatting with runners during the expo at the Courtyard's and the Saturday afternoon pasta dinner. Webb, a silver medalist in the Western States 100-mile endurance race and 14-time finisher in the Badwater 135-mile endurance race, also serves as race director; while Aldridge, a high school All-American and two-time Napa Valley Marathon Champion, is a longtime Sonoma County runner and coach.
Race participants and fans, expo vendors and visitors will find accommodations at the Courtyard Santa Rosa hotel to include an on-site fitness center, outdoor pool, whirlpool and complimentary on-site parking. WiFi access is also available throughout the hotel and an onsite Avis car rental desk makes it convenient for air travelers to access local attractions.
