High Demand for Secondhand Goods Drives Move Loot's Expansion in North Carolina

San Francisco-based Move Loot opened a warehouse and delivery services in Durham, North Carolina in early September, serving consumers in the Triangle Area, including Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill and the surrounding communities. Now the company has expanded its North Carolina coverage to include Charlotte and the surrounding areas.
Bill Bobbitt, CEO and co-founder of Move Loot and a Raleigh native, co-founded Move Loot after his own frustrating experience relocating across the country, trying to sell his furniture and home goods and then stocking his new apartment in San Francisco.
Bobbitt said, "We were blown away by the response in Raleigh where we saw large growth after launching in September. We are thrilled to bring Move Loot's service to Charlotte where we know people are looking for a better option for buying and selling quality, secondhand home goods."
How Move Loot works:
Sellers photograph furniture, and upload the photos and descriptions to Move Loot (via the mobile app or a laptop/desktop).
Move Loot collects the furniture, photographs it professionally, posts it online for sale, and stores it until it sells.
Buyers choose what they want via the mobile app or computer, pay online and schedule quick delivery to their doorstep via Move Loot movers.
Following the traditional consignment model, sellers get a portion of the selling price, but Move Loot handles all of the hassle.
In keeping with Move Loot's environmental values, items that don't sell are eventually donated to local charities.
There are no other delivery services that also provide a quality check, professional photography and storage. Storage is particularly helpful when sellers have multiple pieces, or when buyers want to purchase multiple pieces and have them delivered all at once. Because Move Loot handles pickup, storage and delivery, users can have furniture picked up or delivered on their schedule, without needing to coordinate timing with strangers.
Move Loot has already hired a launch strategist for Charlotte and plans to build a 20-person team including warehouse and delivery positions by mid-2015.
