Improved Financial Outlook Brings Greater Investor Confidence in November
(firmenpresse) - CHICAGO, IL -- (Marketwired) -- 11/25/14 -- The Spectrem Millionaire Investor Confidence Index (SMICI®) gained 5 points to 13 in November, Spectrem Group announced today. The Spectrem Affluent Investor Confidence Index (SAICI®) edged up 1 point to 6.
The indices, compiled by Spectrem Group (a market research and consulting firm specializing in the affluent and retirement markets), measure the investment confidence and outlook of households with more than $1 million of investable assets (SMICI) and more than $500,000 of investable assets (SAICI).
The gain in the November indices was driven by an improved Spectrem Affluent Household Outlook, Spectrem's additional monthly measure of Affluent investor confidence in financial factors that impact their daily lives. The Outlook posted its highest reading since April 2007.
"Though Millionaire investors have largely recovered, the stock market volatility of September and October has had a lingering impact on Affluent investors," says George H. Walper, Jr., president of Spectrem Group. "We're seeing a lag effect. The market volatility of a month or so ago made Affluent investors skittish and prone to hold on the sidelines. The jump in the Affluent Household Outlook indicates there is some optimism, but they're not quite ready to further engage with the market."

The Spectrem Affluent Investor Confidence Index (SAICI ®) is based on 250 monthly online interviews with the financial decision-makers in households with $500,000 or more in investable assets. The Index has a margin of error of plus or minus 6.2 percentage points. The Spectrem Millionaire Investor Confidence Index (SMICI ®) is based on a subset of the overall survey group.
