With everything from tulips and sparkling champagne to scenic rivers and rich history, European tours are on the rise for the coming year. New for 2015, Backroads is offering the following Bike Tours: Stockholm to Copenhagen, Danube River Cruising, Champagne to Alsace, and Berlin to Dresden -- and all trips are filling up quickly. Due to the very high interest in the River Cruise Biking tours, the 2016 booking dates for these popular itineraries and additional new destinations will open in January.
Iceland, a movie and TV location favorite, has become a hot travel destination again and the Backroads tours have proven to be very popular with guests. Italy is also back on the travel radar after being down last year, particularly in the lesser-known regions such as Puglia, the Italian Lakes, and Cinque Terre.
Domestically, national parks continue to be favorite active travel destinations with Glacier National Park ranking as the most popular, followed by Yellowstone & Tetons. 2016 will mark the 100-year anniversary of the national park system and many guests are looking to get a jump on the expected crowds by celebrating the 99th anniversary instead.
