Asia Society Texas Center Is Giving Back to the Community in the Spirit of the Season
FREE Admission Throughout December
(firmenpresse) - HOUSTON, TX -- (Marketwired) -- 12/10/14 -- 'Tis the season for giving, and is taking the art of giving to a whole new level. In celebration of our 35th anniversary, we are launching the "Art of Giving" promotion by offering "FREE" admission into our latest exhibition, throughout December. We invite visitors to experience the cultural gift of art inspired by Japan's expressive Noh theater.
"We want to give the entire community a gift they will remember and cherish," said Rose Rougeau, Senior Director, Communication & Audience Engagement at Asia Society. "Sharing cultural experiences, sharing an interest in the creativity and humanity of our species is what the season is all about. This gift of art goes beyond the tangible, it enriches the spirit."
Through the tradition of gift-giving, Asia Society is giving a cultural experience that in itself shares the layered conversation between tradition and innovation in contemporary Asian art. The masks in the Traditions Transfigured exhibition apply the forms, techniques and mysterious elegance of Noh masks to iconic female portraits from the European art historical canon, to Kabuki actor prints by Sharaku (1794-1795), Japan's enigmatic 18th century portrait master.
The complimentary exhibition can be seen throughout the month of December. On a permanent basis, Asia Society is also extending its weekend hours, opening at 10 a.m. instead of 11 a.m., and admitting children 12 years and under free of charge.
Asia Society Texas Center is located in the heart of the Museum District at 1370 Southmore Boulevard and is open Tuesday through Friday, 11 a.m. - 6 p.m., and weekends 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
