Oracle WebLogic Server and Oracle JRockit Help Dramatically Reduce Cost and Start-Up Time for Franchisees

Choice Hotels International (NYSE: CHH), one of the largest and most successful hotel franchises, with over 6,000 hotels worldwide, has selected and for the web-based version of its property management system: choiceADVANTAGE.
choiceADVANTAGE allows Choice Hotels' property owners to manage all aspects of their front desk operations, including monitoring room inventory, managing reservations and rates and tracking financial results.
Choice Hotels Corporate can now manage the web-based choiceADVANTAGE property management system from a central location and provide it as a lightweight Software as a Service (SaaS) application to franchisees. This substantially reduces the installation and training costs, as well as deployment time.
The choiceADVANTAGE application handles 4.5 million daily web requests across 4,500 properties, with the capacity to scale across Choice's portfolio of 6000+ hotels.
Performance and availability are key drivers of customer satisfaction. When booking reservations and checking people in and out at the front desk, application performance and availability is of paramount importance. Oracle WebLogic Server provides both high application performance and high availability for choiceADVANTAGE.
Using the Side by Side Deployment features of Oracle WebLogic Server, Choice Hotels Corporate is able to minimize downtime during application updates. Application updates are further simplified and automated using Oracle WebLogic Scripting Tool (WLST), which helps to eliminate errors during deployment.
Choice Hotels Corporate also leverages the Oracle WebLogic Administration Console to centrally manage servers and uses Oracle WebLogic Diagnostics Framework and Oracle JRockit Mission Control to detect and resolve problems with their application code.
With Oracle WebLogic Server, Choice Hotels has also minimized its hardware requirements, gaining the ability to complete over 100,000 check-in/check-out events daily with just four commodity servers.
