The presiding judge of the Superior Court of El Dorado County to be sworn-in to the Tribal Court of the Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians. The chief judge of the Shingle Springs Tribal Court will be sworn-in to the Superior Court of El Dorado County earlier that day.
The cross swearing in brings us closer to finalizing the formation of a tribal-state joint jurisdiction court, the first model of its kind in California. This landmark court will hear cases in a tribal court by a state court judge and a tribal court judge, together. This innovative court marks the first time a juvenile and family court has been established across two jurisdictions.
