TicketNetwork Advisory -- Hair Is Back on Broadway, but Not for Long
(firmenpresse) - VERNON, CT -- (Marketwire) -- 07/20/11 -- Hair, the popular musical about free spirits in 1960s and '70s New York City, has returned to Broadway for a limited 10-week run, closing on September 10, 2011.
The show was previously on Broadway in 2009, where it won the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical. After the show closed in June 2010, the cast embarked on a North American tour, which will continue after the New York engagement. are available for tour stops in Dallas, TX; Denver, CO; San Diego, CA; and several other cities through the spring of 2012.
For those unfamiliar with the plot, Hair is about a group of friends (also known as the "tribe") living in New York City and dealing with various 1960s issues, including the Vietnam War draft, the sexual revolution and the notion of personal freedom. Hair reviews have been consistently positive, and audiences enjoy the flashback with songs like "Age of Aquarius," "Good Morning Starshine" and, of course, "Hair."
According to data from the TicketNetwork exchange*, the average price of tickets sold for this New York engagement is slightly lower than for the previous Broadway residency. Tickets sold for the 2009-2010 run averaged $137.21, while tickets sold for the current run are averaging $129.33.
