(firmenpresse) - IQALUIT, NUNAVUT -- (Marketwired) -- 01/26/15 -- Christopher Raymond Bishop, 29, was convicted and sentenced to 20 years in prison in a decision released today by the Nunavut Court of Justice. He had pleaded guilty on January 14, 2015, to three counts of manslaughter and two counts of attempted murder. With credit for time served, he will spend an additional three years and eleven months in prison.
On January 28, 2013, the Nunavut Court of Appeal overturned the June 9, 2010 conviction of Christopher Bishop of three counts of second degree murder under s. 235 of Criminal Code and two counts of attempted murder under s. 239, for which he was sentenced to life imprisonment. The charges stem from a shooting in Cambridge Bay on January 6, 2007, involving five people following a home invasion. A new trial was ordered.
