Airbnb CEO & Co-Founder Brian Chesky, Intriguing Discussion on the Shared Economy and Airbnb's Formation at Larkin Street's Corporate Leadership Breakfast
Hosted by Larkin Street Youth Services and PwC US, the Event Benefited Homeless Youth
(firmenpresse) - SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 02/13/15 -- and title sponsor, US, hosted the annual , on February 12, 2015 at the San Francisco City Club, attended by members of San Francisco's business community. This year's guest speaker, Brian Chesky, CEO & Co-Founder of , had an intriguing discussion on the shared economy and Airbnb's start with PwC's San Francisco Managing Partner Jim Henry.
Chesky shared many engaging stories about what led him to begin the game changing Airbnb, as well as what has contributed to their ongoing success. Crediting his need to pay rent when first moving to San Francisco, Chesky and fellow co-founder Joe Gebbia opened their empty home to designers attending a conference, providing three air beds to their guests, and thus was born Air Bed and Breakfast which became Airbnb.
Chesky jokingly told the audience that Airbnb is the "worst idea that ever worked." He was inspired in part by a former college professor from his alma-mater, Rhode Island School of Design, who told him "you can design the world you want to live in." Now at the forefront, Chesky stated that the "sharing economy allows for people to connect back into the world."
