San Diego Startup Enables Wireless Service Providers to Extend and Strengthen Existing Networks; Opens up New Paths to Monetization

(firmenpresse) - BARCELONA, SPAIN -- (Marketwired) -- 02/24/15 -- , formed with the vision of enabling wireless service providers to efficiently manage, optimize and monetize their wireless networks, today announced its launch out of stealth mode. XCellAir offers one of the wireless industry's first cloud-based, multi-vendor, multi-technology mobile network management and optimization solutions.

Increasing demand for data and ubiquitous connectivity has put increased strain on the networks of Mobile Network Operators (MNOs), Multiple System Operators (MSOs) and Internet Service Providers (ISPs). XCellAir helps wireless service providers unlock the untapped potential of Heterogeneous Networks (HetNets) consisting of Wi-Fi and/or cellular small cells to deliver massive increases in network capacity, extended coverage and a lower cost-per-bit.

"It's no secret that wireless providers are struggling to keep up with the growing demand for data. Existing network optimization tools that incorporate Wi-Fi and cellular small cells do exist, but to-date these solutions have been underutilized and deployed in a limited and siloed manner," said Amit Agarwal, founder and president, XCellAir. "XCellAir addresses the key barriers to wide scale, managed HetNet deployments, enabling carriers to immediately capitalize on the cost, QoS and management benefits it provides."

XCellAir's solution enables wireless service providers to seamlessly manage, deploy and optimize dense Wi-Fi and cellular networks from a single, consolidated view. Key features include:

: State-of-the-art virtualization and orchestration capabilities that provide elastic scalability and align with Software Defined Networking (SDN) and Networks Function Virtualization (NFV) standards evolution

: Common framework for dynamic interference mitigation and enabling optimal coverage and capacity. Single solution for any wireless access type (Wi-Fi, LTE, 5G, etc.)

: Context-aware analytics enabling predictive network optimization, business model analysis, marketing and advertising

"The emergence of XCellAir is exciting for the carrier-managed Wi-Fi and small cell markets. Their technology and approach target a critical gap for service providers interested in deploying a HetNet," said Ed Gubbins, Senior Analyst at Current Analysis.

The solution offered by XCellAir has been in development for more than fourteen months and is now being brought to market by proven technology executives Amit Agarwal, Narayan Menon and Todd Mersch.

Amit Agarwal, President, has 25 years of telecom experience, most notably holding executive GM positions at Radisys and SW & Solutions, and serving as COO at Continuous Computing

Narayan Menon, CTO, benefits from over 25 years in the telecom industry, most recently as VP of R&D at InterDigital

Todd Mersch, EVP, sales and marketing, is a recognized industry expert with over a decade of experience in communications systems, with a specific focus on small cell technology deployment
