Intel Announced as 'Presenting Sponsor' of Bay Area Event

(firmenpresse) - SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 02/24/15 -- Maker Faire, the Greatest Show (and Tell) on Earth, celebrates its 10th annual event in the Bay Area on May 16-17. This event marks an important milestone in the Maker Movement and the shift in how we see ourselves and move about the world: we are all makers, changing the way we learn, create, and see the future.

"The Maker Movement is no longer a niche idea but a mainstream, everyday mindset. People have made the shift to seeing themselves as DIYers and creators, where anything is possible," said Dale Dougherty, founder and executive chairman of Maker Media, and co-founder of Maker Faire. "Whether it's upcycling a discarded household item into a more useful object or developing a crowdfunded project that changes the way we all create, people are making the change. It's exciting! And it's making an impact in people's lives that we haven't seen for quite some time."

Maker Faire has experienced significant continued growth for each of its 10 years. From the number of Faires now taking place around the world -- 151 events are already planned for 2015 -- to the increasing number of people attending those Faires -- a 47% increase from 2013 to 2014 -- Maker Faire has proven itself to be the place for makers of all kinds and levels to gather. As a result of this momentum, Fortune 500 companies are increasingly eager to join the movement.

Maker Faire is proud to share that long-time Maker Faire Bay Area partner, Intel, will be the Presenting Sponsor. Intel's involvement in the Maker Movement, and the Bay Area event in particular, has been steadfast. Intel takes pride in its history, beginning with some of the earliest tinkerers in Silicon Valley, and in its efforts to forge a better future. Delivering technologies that empower and inspire makers of all ages to learn, to invent, and to carry on the legacy of DIY innovation is core to Intel's values. Taking their partnership to this new level only further solidifies Intel's commitment to the Maker Movement and their support of the Bay Area maker community.
